Default transmission stuck in first

Happened overnight.... no warning.
I have manual 1, manual 2 and reverse.
In drive it is stuck in first... wont upshift to 2 or 3 or overdrive.
Checked the fluid... Ok level and pink.
How far can I drive in first without harming anything?

Don't over rev the engine, and you can drive cross country that way. Need to find out WHY it isn't shifting though...... Any check engine light?

Cross country sounds great.... island is 4 miles wide.
Check engine light and brake light have been on for 4 years after I accidentally shorted the ignition wires.
Corrosion is a serious problem here.... salt water... possibility??

Hi this may or not help.

Also how many miles are on the transmission? Because I had this problem just before my first transmission went south, But I had a check engine light something like governor solenoid pressure sensor code. I had to rebuild the transmission.

Have you replaced the fluid and filter lately? Remember use only ATF 4.

Pull the codes
turned the ignition off-on off-on off-on read the code that appeared in the odometer.

20,000 plus miles...... fluid and filter never touched in 10 years.
Fluid is pink.
Have appointment with shop next Monday.... not a transmission shop... there are none here.... big problems get crated and shipped off island.
Numbers in odometer read 27009.... is this a code or mileage?? ... did the on/off thing with the ignition.

That would be mileage. Now check for codes, as has already been suggested! https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...code-list.html
