Default Ram Air Intake requires tuning?

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.2L. I just installed a ram air hood and intake and was wondering if there is any tuning i should do to take full advantage of the the new intake system.

Welcome to dodgeforum! You should be good to go unless you want to spend some money on bolt on mods. Lots of people on here run 50mm throttle bodies, 1.7 harland sharp rr's, and sct tuners to wake up these trucks. Make sure your plenum is not leaking too.

Is your hood a functional cold air from good hood? I've been looking at those for a while but can't justify the price for one.

Usually no. The PCM typically can compensant as the air is not supercooled out of preprogrammed values, and the MAP sensor can accommodate for any amount of "boost" a ram air intake can produce.

If you have nonstock injectors, you'll need a wideband O2 sensor to be sure the PCM is curving the fuel tables correctly. But you'd need that regardless of the intake.

Thanks. and yes its functional but no not from good hood they dont carry a hood for my year (thats the first place i looked when shopping). it is a suncoast twin scoop with heat extractor vents, built in channel and a new air box. the links are to the hood but from two different suppliers.

Good hoods, dodge. Three hoods for 01 rams. There used to be 4 but they stopped making my hood. I loves my hood.

Just saying! Thats a nice hood you chose too. 1k for a hood sounds about right, mine was 1200 with ram air.

mowhawk - I love your hood! I'm still trying to find one for a reasonable price. Cheapest I've found was $575 with the intake kit. I feel like an aftermarket hood just wakes up the look of a truck
