Default towed a 3500 ford four door dually 4x4 this morning

Got an i'm stranded in the back roads call at 5 am. Did the damn deal and pulled the truck to my buddies girls house about a 35-40 mile tow. The trans got up to about 230 not good, but the motor stayed at about 200 never struggled. But under hard acceleration i get the wacky vents. When I turn the overdrive off and drive I can drive hard and the vents wont change. Whats up with that?

What's up with that is that when you're in overdrive the engine is struggling to make power at those low RPM's and your manifold vacuum is on the floor because of the wide throttle opening. So don't do that.

When the engine's working hard, switch into direct drive.

If you are towing/hauling, O/D will kill your trans in relatively short order. Doesn't matter what kind of road you are on.

1700 is what i paid for this trans in 05 and used to tow trash trailors and air compressors for my aunts oilfield equipment rental company with it. Pulls great, just really pissed about the wacky vents. My overdrive doesn't kick in till about 70 ish after that the ac works great. all new check valves btw.
