I need help on what to do please!
I have a 2001 5.9L 4x4 single cab. I have been looking around alot at different builds to see what i want to do to my truck. My truck is not a sport it is a Laramie SLT and all i have done is a new tranny at 130K and a Chery bomb 2.5 inch glass pack. Ive got 140k on it now and i am ready to start building it. I have decided on getting some Cragar Black soft 8's and a Leveling kit. I wanna put an intake on it and i need some help with that 14inch one that i have seen on many trucks. I will also be going with 33's at a later date. If you have any input please let me know. But i dont want a huge truck, i just want it to look a bit more aggressive with a bit of power.
I will upload pics tomorrow. But i was wondering about the 14inch intake that looks like its for a carburetor engine? Also what leveling kit would be the best? I have a friend who has a truck just like mine but its a 99 and he put a 5 inch lift on the front and it leveled it out. But ill measure the distance from the tire to the fender in the front and back. I will have to change my gears out to put 33's on it?
33s are the maximum I would do with stock gears, and it'll feel a little gutless. Upgrade to a better gear ratio for those tires, and you'll get better MPGs and power. Factory gears were designed for the small 245 tires.
So would you recommend re-gearing a 2wd with 32in (265/75/16) tires? She's got the 3.55's.

you could always do what i did to my 99, for the front i put in coils rom a 2500, and for the rear you coild either remove the foctory 3" block and replace it with a 5" block from a 2500, or you could leave the 3" block in and just add a leaf. its a really cheap lift if you come across a wrecked 2500 to steal the coils and blocks from.
And it def wouldnt hurt to regear to a 4.10 instead of the stock 3.55......i wouldnt go much lower than that if your only going to go to a 33" tire. i think 4.56 or 4.88 would be too much.

But yes, any time you are upgrading tire sizes, gearing should be considered. While only jumping to a 33" tire is not much taller than stock (inch to an inch and a half), you have to consider the added wight and rolling resistance as well. The stock gearing will suffice, but its all in what you want.
