Default 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 - Need Help

Hi guys I need some help here, I have a 97 ram 1500 that used to be mine but a couple years ago I gave it to my grandma to have, a few months back the truck crapped out on her, it will still start when the outside temperature is not too cold. I am now trying to fix the problem but do not know where to start, The truck is not giving any check engine light codes. and when it is started it is really LOUD, the truck never sounded this way in all the time I owned it, and along with the loud noise it has practically no power, it will move reverse and drive but it feels almost like driving with a very strong parking break on, the tires move like normal but there is just not power like there used to be.

cat is probably plugged. Take out the pre-cat O2 sensor, and take it for a drive, see if it is any better. If so, gut the cat. (the one on the truck. not your grandma's cat.)

Also, there is a thread here for just such an issue that a few other members discovered they have. Might wanna have a read thru that as well.

I may skip the o2 sesor check because my grandma said that the water pump is supposedly bad, that makes sense to me, seems like if I fix that it should take care of all of the symptoms.
