Erm, 97?

Get the Borg Warner heavy duty solenoid/sensor kit. They are for sale on ebay for under a hundred bucks.

Default Transmission Question

I have a 1997 2500 (8,800 GVW) with the 8.0L V10 that I'm planning on taking on a 1600 mile trip pulling a 6,000 pound travel trailer with. My the truck is cold you have to give it quite a bit of throttle to get it going and then let off of it slightly to get it to shift into second. Once the truck has warmed up it shifts just fine and hos no issues. Anybody know of any likely causes for this. Also. is this likely to cause me to end up stranded on the side of the road somewhere if not addressed quickly? Thanks for any assistance.

Well, this happened today.

Over the past couple of months, there’s been maybe three times. I have felt a shutter when going from 3rd to 4th gear, but nothing else out of the ordinary.

Driving out of town today and it stumbled upon acceleration like a fuel or breathing issue and then RPMs just jumped and lost all acceleration. No noise other than a possibly a very brief soft whine type. Pulled into a driveway and tried all gears and reverse, nothing. Tried 4H and 4L, nothing. No noise going into park. Park does hold.

Fluid level is okay, fluid looks decent and doesn’t smell burnt.

Disconnect the 8 pin connector at the trans. 'Bout halfway back, drivers side, plugs straight down into the top of the valve body. Your trans won't have ANY automatic function, and you won't have torque converter clutch, or overdrive either, but, if it now moves, you have an electronic problem, if it doesn't, it's rebuild time.
