5.9 z vin ignition/ missing
First off I would like to say 'Thank You' to all you guys and your help. Here is what I found Today. The intake did have a leak at the front passengers side. I replaced the intake manifold gasket and the plenum gasket as well. The O2 sensor is replaced, and I have a new cat it was replaced 39 miles before this truck acted up. I have also removed the Jacobs Ignition system, the jacobs was a problem so now I am back to factory coil/ignition system. After putting this all back together I installed an Accel Dist Cap and Rotor. Started it up and my fuel sync was at +17. Using my DRB III programmer I got the sync to 0-+1 it was very tough to get it that close. Ran the truck it idles at 720-727 rpm. Took it for a test drive while driving at in town speeds it runs well however take it out to the interstate and I heard chatter coming from the engine and it also felt like it lost power when the chatter was heard, so...I hooked up the DRBIII and avtivated and deactivated every fuel injector. When the injectors are activated I should feel the injector pulsing open shut????? I am assuming this is right. I have injector 6 showing high voltage and injectors 2.3.4and 6 not pulsing, I'm thinking I have a few bad injectors. Also after the test drive the dist cap and rotor was not arc'd or melted. Do you guys think I;m on the right track? The injectors and fuel rail have already been pulled of and cleaned. Any help would be great.
First off thank you for your help guys. I did have an intake gasket leak. I replaced the intake gasket and the plenum gasket. Installed a new O2 sensor as well. The cat only have 40 miles on it since the truck got this problem. Installed a Good distributor cap and rotor. Removed the Jacobs Ignition system...all of it, I will never buy another one waste of money. I have also installed a new OE coil as well. SEt the fuel sync to 0 - +1 I couldnt get it right to zero. I took it for a drive it idles at 702-720 rpms nicely, however when i drove it the miss was gone. The problem is heard chatter noise while driving, took it back to my shop. hooked up the DRBIII programmer. I checked every injector. Injecotrs #2,4,6,3 and 8 did not pulse on and off when i would activate and deactivate every injector. Injector 6 also triggered and error'high voltage'. Im thinking I have some bad injectors now. The fuel rail and injectors were clean. the injectors do have 156,000 miles on. Do you guys agree Im on the right track??
well, that checks then...... clean the connectors, stick it back together, and see if it improves its attitude any. It really shouldn't run very well at all with that many 'bad' injectors.
