How hard is it to replace the t-stat on these trucks?

Well, it only took me about 5 minutes to do mine, but that was only because I had the intake manifold off for the plenum fix...

To get it to the point you can properly see the surface, and clean them for the new gasket -

Drain the antifreeze down to keep from making too big of a mess
Remove fan belt
Remove alternator
Unhook AC compressor and swing over to passenger fender
Remove bracket for alt & AC
Thermostat is right there.

Probably half hour to get down to a good spot to work on it.

Don't break any bolts though. That tends to add significantly to the required time to completion.

Damn thats a lot of work to replace the tstat! Maybe I oughta order a full tune up kit, plenum, serp belt, and rockers... And just wait till spring.

An extra 5 and an extra 5 less if you take the alternator out.

grind that dang tab off the neck and you're set for a five minute job for future changes.

Dont listen to them. I've replaced my thermostat many times and have never seen the reason to why they grind the tab off.
