ByeBye Dodge...Hello GMC!
Good luck with the new truck! I have always liked the NBS (what GM freaks call the full-sizes built from 99-06) Silverados and Sierras and have believed they were the best modern trucks built to date. You just cant beat a GM LS motor for reliability, ease of working on, and ease of performance upgrades. Plus parts are literally everywhere. I cant wait to put a LQ9 with a cam and intake in a S-10 and back it up with a T-56 and get 25 on the highway.
after your warranty is gone you will find out how bad chevy's really are. i know a chevy guy that is glad his trucks is still under warranty because there is already thousands of dollars worth of problems and it is only a couple of years old.
Its a good truck, most of the farmers around where I am from used GM all the time, I will try it out. Any vehicle will have problems....Im ready for that
When I was looking for my truck, I actally looked for high mileage... over 170k. My thinking was this... American vehicle (dodge in particular) with over 170k on it in running condition = a) well taken care of and/or b) an "anti-lemon".
I won't touch used vehicles between 80k and 120k. I feel (can't back it up with data) that's where the big ticket items go bad. At 170k+ I figure chances are the big stuff has been dealt with... once anyway (I suppose it could just as easily be close to needing the big ticket items again.).
Of course I also won't buy newer vehicles because every mechanic I have ever dealt with is a crook! I can work on the older ones myself... most of the time.
