Pics of new lift
Well, I finally got my lift/suspension project done....almost. Haven't got the new shocks on the rear yet, and still need to change my sway bar bushings and install my Dana track bar.
-2" Skyjacker lift (D201k), basically 2" lifted coils, and an add-a-leaf for the rear.
-Rancho 9000's
-Skyjacker 7000 steering damber
-Dana track bar
-Cost: Too much, but worth it.
I gained almost a full 2" in the front, and about 1.25" in the rear.
Let me know what you think.

looks sweet... how does it ride?
I'm looking to go with 3" coils up front to replace the 3/4 ton coils that are up there now to try and smooth out the off-road ride a bit, the little woman was mentioning that her brain was rattling around too much last weekend when we were on some rough trails...

After I finished the front, I took it for a drive. It rode very smooth. I could handle deep dips and bumps without any "bottoming out" of the shocks and springs like I used to have. Then I installed the add-a-leaf. It is noticiable stiffer in the back, about like a stock 3/4 ton with an empty bed. I can live with it, and hopefully, the new shocks that go in the rear will help some. They are adjustable, so maybe i can set things up to be a little smoother. Overall, I really like it.

Actually, it still has the stock block. I just added the add-a-leaf.
Should I only have one or the other?
I was actually thinking of just removing the stock block, and putting in one a little smaller so that back doesn't sit up as high. If I took the AAL out, and put a bigger block, would that work too? I always here everyone say that blocks are a poor way to lift the rear, that is why I did the AAL. I don't mind the stiffness.

problem is there arent a whole lot of ways to lift the rear. Plus you already have a block back there so I'd think as long as you dont go to far with the new block you'd be ok. I have a +2" block and its fine for what I use my truck for.
I'd say that you should stick with the AAL for now and see how you like it after a while. if it's too stiff, then go to the 2" block.

I talked to a friend who is the owner of a 4x4 shop here in town (the ones who did my gears), and he said that the height in the rear will come down some as the new add-a-leaf flexes down. He said the ride will soften up a little too. He recommended not going with a block any bigger then the one I have. I think that is just a preference thing though.
I really don't mind it being stiffer right now, plus I like that fact that I can load the back and not have the nose pointing in the air. With just my stock leafs, I used to put about 400lbs of sand in the back in the winter, and it would sag. I hated that.

Looks good man!! Gives it a much better stance. Thats cool it handles better also. Sweet!! BTW, I did the grab handle install and it turned out great. I got both the pillar and roof handle and they help out alot. No more steering wheel grabs. Thanks soo much for the write up on that!!!!![sm=goodidea.gif]
