water in taillight?
Saber, LOL! I know it sounds crazy... but roomie makes it up to me in other ways.
Charlie, then you know exactly how bad Parleys can get. I can see I80 from my house. From about 2pm yesterday until I went to sleep, the semis had overflowed the corner gas station and were lined along side of I80 for as far as the eye could see. It was a doozie of a storm.
Looks like the worst is over this morning. Yay! Now I get to drive to parts store, get the new switch, and hopefully have the damn dodge back on the road today!
Keep your fingers crossed for me, please.

I certainly hope (lolz) that I'm thinking this out of context here.

Just wondering, is that the trucks new name now? 'Damn Dodge'?
lol
Glad to see everything is coming together as far as fixing 'Damn Dodge'.
It's nice to have taillights....
Hey you... that's very sweet. Thanks!!
Don't worry, you are stuck with me at least through the R/I radiator project next week... and damn dodge's suspension is truly in DESPERATE need of attention too.
Dude, my relationship with roomie is 'complicated'. LOL And yes, damn dodge is roomie's truck's official name. If it makes ya feel any better, my youngest pup's name is Trouble, and while he lives up to his name, he's a cutie!!
By the way, I think you guys are awesome! Thanks for being here and helping me!!

Friends with benifits huh?
On a side note, I just went to the car wash, on the way back I went to use my right turn signal. It didn't work! LOL Turns out the bulb blew apart, must have got a little water in the tail light.

The saga continues....
Went to parts store and got a new switch. My friend was mistaken, and the continuity points are the same as the original switch, but I do get better continuity on one point with the new switch. I swapped out the plunger and plugged in the new switch. The dash lights flickered on for a sec, but then went right out. I jiggled and played with the connection and the dash lights again flickered on, but then again went out.
So... I went back to my notes from my call with the dodge serviceman. He said to check power at large pink and large red wire connector cavities with a test light. So, I did. No power at pink wire. He also said to check fuse #18 (which is not a fuse I had checked before). So I checked it. It's blown.
Of course, I don't have any extra fuses at the house and roomie has my truck at work. And even though roomie says he checked every fuse the 1st night, I don't know if the fuse has been blown all along or if it blew when I was testing new switch.
Not happy with myself for making a stupid beginner's mistake.

But, but, but..... electrical is just so much FUN! You should look forward to any opportunity to delve into the mysteries of moving electrons, and the myriad ways it can...... screw up.....
Sorry. Couldn't resist. I hate electrical too.

Good morning, guys.
Had roomie pick up the baby 25 fuses last night. As soon as sun rises, I will put in a new fuse and then see if I get power on the pink wire at switch connector. I will fix the wire that does not look grounded properly and see if I can't close the splicing pieces better.
After I play with the wires underneath.... I'll check again to make sure I still have power on the pink wire. If so, then I'll pop in new switch and betcha $$$ the tail/dash lights come on.
Zman... don't replacing lights get old?? I had a bad seal on my burb's passenger headlight. Every time it got wet... the bulb blew. After replacing the 4th bulb in less than a year, I found an ad for a burb that was being parted out. I got that burb's headlight covers... switched them out... no more leaky cover.
UPDATE: Put in new fuse, checked power at pink wire on connector (yes), plugged in the new switch and voila! The damn dodge has lights again.
Later today... when warmer than -6F outside, I'll disconnect battery, double-check fog light fuse, ground that one wire under dash, check splicing crimpers... then keep my fingers the lights stay on!
With the new switch installed, if the fuse blows again, at least I will know it is a wiring issue and not a faulty switch.
