My buddy (who is a sweetie) lives in the valley near the parts store. He went to pep boys with his ohmmeter and checked points for continuity on a new switch. He gets strong continuity on the point that looks carbonized on my switch, but more importantly, he gets continuity on a point that I get no reading at all on my switch.

Verdict is... bad switch! Now I'm just waiting for the weather to let up enough to drive to the valley to get the new part!

Normally... I'd say no problem! But really, I live in a ski town in the mountains above Salt Lake City (where parts store is). I have to cross the mountain summit on I80 to then descend into the valley. The semis are parked at the corner gas station because parts of the freeway are already shut down, and on the local news they are asking people to stay home even in the valley. Good chance they will soon shut down freeway at that summit in between my house and the parts store.

As much as I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get a new switch, pop it into roomie's damn dodge, and make sure all the lights work again.... Mother Nature is making me wait at least a few more hours.

well congratulations on figuring it out.. and I must say, I'm impressed with your tenacity. Most dudes I know, instead of asking questions, would have bought one of those little 'clip on the bill of your cap' lights whilst they kept a keen eye out for johnny law-dog.. Hell, I may have done that a time or two...

Thanks, Drew! My roomie would have done that too. lol Fortunately for him, he can use my burb while I fix his damn dodge for him. Blizzard has not let up yet... semis still lined up along the road by my house. Final word of success is going to have to wait until tomorrow.

Charlie... yes, it is! How did you know that??

I'm a truck driver and used to go thru there some.
Used to deliver boats to a dealer on the South side of SLC a couple of years ago.
I think they called it Draper, Taylors Boats Inc.

Saber, LOL! I know it sounds crazy... but roomie makes it up to me in other ways.

Charlie, then you know exactly how bad Parleys can get. I can see I80 from my house. From about 2pm yesterday until I went to sleep, the semis had overflowed the corner gas station and were lined along side of I80 for as far as the eye could see. It was a doozie of a storm.

Looks like the worst is over this morning. Yay! Now I get to drive to parts store, get the new switch, and hopefully have the damn dodge back on the road today!

Keep your fingers crossed for me, please.
