1996 Ram 1500 5.2L 4X4
ABS & brake light on and have checked everything I could with help from here. Found out I have no brake lights. Here is a list of things i have checked and results:
Front disk pads are good.
Rear pads were wore, so new pads and 1 calipers was leaking, so new calipers and blead with a vacuum pump. Brakes are working.
Grounded pin 13 and have no codes flashing.
Did key turn 3 times and no codes
Speed sensor, sped-o is working and 2250 Ohms resistance at sensor.
Sensor good.
Bulbs are good, plugged into turn signal and running light plug, worked.
Fuse is good, headlight and brake lights are same fuse, headlights working. Checked all fuses and they are good.
New brake switch at pedal, no help.
I am at a loss as to what it could be or what else I could check to find the problem!

Yes I did. As far as I understand it,, if the speedometer is working it is good. And if it has 2300 to 3000 Ohms resistance, it is good.Originally Posted by zman17
Did you check the sensor on top of the rear end housing?

How are your turn signals? Do they work?
I would pull the covers off the steering column, and have a look at the back side of the multifunction switch.

The turn signals are working. What would I be looking for on the multiswitch? Does the multiswitch have any thing to do with the brake lights. Seems like it would not.Originally Posted by HeyYou

One has nothing to do with the other, if your brake and abs lites are on(on the dash) most likely the RWAL sensor on top of the rear end is bad. Or the brake line along side the gas tank is leaking. Fix one known problem at a time.

brake and turn signals use the same filament in the same bulb. Both are ran thru the multifunction switch. If you turn signals work, but, the brakelights do not..... probably not the switch. Gotta be something further upstream.
