motor blew up in my dads truck
3. You can use the same injectors off the 318. They are better injectors anyway. They are disc style.
1999-2001 has EV6 style injectors. Everything earlier is EV1. Just swap out the intake and injectors. and it is NOT because of "matching" it is because the newer intake and injectors are better.
I owned a 1996 318 and now have a 2001 360. I put EV1 style injectors in my 2001 360 (FMS 24#) because they were aftermarket injectors with 4 holes.
Do not get the connectors from hughes, they do not come with the pigtails (wires). Plus there is no need.
JUST BE CAREFUL. Those EV6 injector connectors are very brittle. Get new injector O-rings as well. Or you might leak.

Keep all sensors from the engine youcurrently have in it. A few may very well be slightly different than the donor truck from 96. I know the coolant temp sensor will be as will the injectors. The O2 sensors may as well (not that you'll necessarily swap them). The 5.2 and 5.9 Injectors are interchangeable. Just use the ones that fit you harness, and be sure to tell hemifever which year of injectors you use.
They will all swap into the donor engine, you just want to be sure they match your wiring harness as well.

well heres the update. well got the 318 out of the truck and we ended up using the 96 intake with the 01 fuel rail and injectors because a water outlet bolt broke and we didnt have time to take it to a machine shop and get fixed. but on the 96 intake we cut the center divder out and cut the runners down and did the poor mans throttle body and we should have it in by tomm evening.
I was going to say to use the rail from the 01.
Good thing you cut that divider!!!
The truck should work fine. Just use the sensors on the TB from the 1996. They have different connections from 1996 to 2001 (I know, i owned a 1996 AND 2001). Otherwise you will wonder why your engine wiring harness connectors for those sensors don't quite work. Also, the 2001 TPS is a different depth.
Put all the sensors on the TB before you bolt the TB down. I missed putting the MAP vac line on the little teeny tiny nipple when putting the MAP on with the TB bolted down.
Just double check everything and don't torque more than 14 ft lbs on the four throttle body bolts.

LAST THING!!!
Make sure you get new intake bolts. They are Torque to Yeild!! meaning they can only be torques to specs ONCE. when you take them off, they will not torque down. Go to the dealership or order them from hughes.
TIP FOR ATTACHING THE INTAKE: cut the head off 4 intake bolts, thread them in a few turns. THen you can get your intake on perfectly aligned and you will not move the gaskets. Just take them out with your fingers when the intake is on there.
You need those new intake bolts....can't stress that enough.

well a few things can up but it should be in tomm. but today we did change out the plugs cap and rotor and wires and got the intake bolted down so its ready to go in the truck
you did not mention mileage. it may be saved if damage is not great. it sounded like a simple bad rod bearing. pull the pan and investigate. you will save tons of money if it just needs rod bearings. engine swaps are a real pain. depends how much longer you would like to keep the truck. if long time, fix old engine or get short or long block. the long block will go the longest. (another 270,000 miles ??)
