Default motor blew up in my dads truck

my dad has a 2001 dodge 1500 4x4 and the 318 finally gave up the ghost on christmas eve and it snowed a foot here so he finally got to work on it alittle today.and just to make sure im thinkin right. he planning to drop a 360 inplace of the 318 all he should need that is different from the 318 is the flexplate and front damper right?he gettin hemifever to tune his computer for the 360 that should work right?

its always had a slight low end knock and the connectin rod broke on the number one cylinder we think. cause the compression was 0 on that cylinder but it dosent smoke blue or white

a broken rod would make a HORRIBLE noise. it might be something in the head or valve.

yea probably a cracked head....

but from my understandings you got it right on....flexplate needs to be changed like you stated....seems like you know your stuff, should be an easy swap for you.

oh its makin one hell of a rackit and when u tried to rev it up the noise keep gettin louder and it sounded like it was in the oil pan so thats why we thought it was a broke connnecting rod

severely damaged, but not quite broken.

dont run it anymore! the blocks still salvageable
