Dodge Ram Throwing 02 sensor codes.
Alright, I typically don't post on forums for help with my truck but I'm really stuck right now.. I've been having trouble with my truck lately..(seems to have gotten worse after my 3in body lift).. where my truck will spit and sputter during acceleration.. Also it will idle very low occasionally but always idles back up and then runs fine... Im getting two codes for the up-stream and down-stream 02 sensors being shorted or not operating properly.. they both are reading approx. 4.5 volts each.. I replaced both 02 sensors with Denso 02 sensors and then reset the codes by disconnecting the battery.. The check engine light stayed off for a few minutes and then turned back on and is still having the same problems.. I've read to check for pulled wires, vaccum leaks, etc. and I can't seem to come up with anything.. Perhaps I'm not looking in the correct areas?.. I'm really in a hurry to get this fixed because I have to go back to school in a few days and I cannot drive my truck like this :/...
Anyway if anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.
Thank you very much and happy new years!

Okay, Well I replaced both 02 sensors today and that made no difference.. and no I haven't checked the cat.. To be honest im not 100% sure on how one would check it?..
Some info.. the truck is a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Laramie 4x4 Quad Cab.. 5.2L v8.. Edelbrock Headers, K&N Cold Air Intake, Throttle Body Spacer, Flowmaster Exhaust.. approx 120,xxx mi.
Thanks for the reply.

First, get rid of the Throttle body spacer, it does nothing because of the design of our intakes. Second, did you disconnect the negative battery cable while you were changing the o2's so the PCM could reset itself?
I was told that it would most likely not do anything.. I got the truck a few months ago and it was on there when I got it so I wasn't sure whether or not to keep it on.. and no, I did not have the negative of the battery disconnected while I was changing the 02 sensors.. However I did take it off after wards if that is any consolation?..
disconnect and remove the front 02 if it runs a little better your converter is clogged up knock it out or replace it. what u workin on?

Removing the cable will reset the pcm. Leave it off for a half hour or so, or remove it and turn the headlights on for 30 seconds or so. Turn the headlights off and reinstall cable. Worth a try anyway.
negative battery cable disconnected, and headlights on for 30 seconds will reset the pcm and clear the stored codes.
otherwise, the codes are held in memory and will continue to be displayed until a lot of miles go by and the pcm decides that its happier.
