was your plenum gasket badly blown?

If so, your next move should be a new catalytic converter.. Oil does a number on them..

also, if it was badly blown, your going to have some residual...

btw: what does that smoke smell like? Is it sweet smelling? Have you checked your oil to see if your flooding your valley with coolant?

Before you go and throw a bunch of money at it, try seafoaming the entire truck. Gas/Crank/Oil. If its a residue problem you're having that should take good care of it. If not, then move on to more drastic measures.

The smoke is white until I gun it. Then turns blue... it smokes no matter how long it runs and its 45 degrees out today. The converter has been cut open. Gutted and rewelded shut. Bout to buy a diff. Motor. Will a 318 out of a 1993 dakota work in my 1997 ram with 360?

it would

you would need a new computer out of a 5.2 your year,,

the intake man off your 5.9(no egr)

flywheel or flex plate what ever because they are balanced differy

but really dry and wet compresstion test would tell you alot,, it could be vavle seals which could have you time and money

i really think you will have everything on the dakota that you would need,,, and your 97 intake manafiold

the only thing i see you needing is a pcm for a 318 about the same year as your 97, or see it you cant conact hemi see if he can change that with the SCT tuner which i think he could
