Default carpet or rubber mat

I'm in the process of building my truck and i was just wondering what everyone prefers.... i have both so i'm not out of money on either,,,, im leaning towards the rubber mat (like out of some work truck models) over the carpet (like in some Laramie models), because where i live there is a lot of mud. the rubber mat would be easier to clean.... but what does everyone else think??

Depends on what you use your truck for. If you find that you are working with it a lot, getting in and out in sloppy conditions, go for the rubber mat.

i got the rubber mat in my truck and couldnt be happier, very easy to clean.

while we are talking about this at the junk yard one day, i noticed there is a cheaper vinyl mat in the older rams 94-98, and a nicer hard plastic liner in the 99-01.
just something to think about

Go for the rubber mats. I've got the same mats that I bought in 98 from Pep boys.
Just moved them from my Pathfinder to my Ram in 02.
They'll last forever.

If you want mats and you have a Costco near by, get them there. There really get quality, heavy duty and the best thing about it is Costso honors there warranties no questions asked.

Are you talking about just floor mats or replacing the whole carpet. If just floor mats go with rubber. I wish my whole floor was covered in rubber.

im sorry for all the confusion... i dont mean floor mats... im talking about the entire floor,, i have a 99 ram and its the "work truck" model,, its nothing great,, its got crank windows and manual locks,, the floor in it is just one big mat,, not carpet... now the truck i am building is a Laramie model,,, it came with carpet... i was just wondering which one everyone prefers..

Rubber all the way. Carpet looks good when its clean and new, but its gets dirty quickly and looks like crap. Unless you use your truck as a commuter car, rubber is the right choice.
