Default 1996 trans swap with a 1994

I have a 1996 1500 ram 4x4 ext cab with the 360 motor. The trans went out about a year ago. I just ran across a trans out of a 1994 thats 4x4 with the 318 in it. I didnt know if it would work or not??

Thanks

Nope. 94 trans is 46RH, 96 trans is 46RE.

In theory, the RH will work in place of an RE, but not the other way around

Possibly...... not sure if you would get 4th gear, or TCC engage though, and it WOULD set the CEL on......

Ya thats what I was thinking but I ran across this site http://www.txchange.com/id.htm. It shows the 96 had the 46RE and the RH.

That shows a year range..... dodge switched from the RH, to the RE in 96, same time they went from OBDI to OBDII.
