Exclamation 1999 5.9l AT - Trannys Gone

i was on my way back from truck wash only 4 miles from home and tranny was acting up the whole way by redlineing 1st, over 4grand in 2nd, refusing to into but when it did shift into 3rd gear it was the highest it go, by the time i got back home crawling at 10 mph cause all i had was 1st and reverse, would it be a sensor problem or do i need a different trans, if i do get a junkyard tranny to replace it do i need to look for a certian one?

Check fluid level first. Any CEL coming on? Before you condemn the trans, drop the pan, see what you find. Might just be a dirty pressure sensor.

Any idea which one? If the it was the pressure sensor, it may have failed again.... Where did you have it done?

Oh, and.... Welcome to DF.

I would try and cripple (or tow...) it over there, and have them have a look. Might be a warranty job.

The aftermarket sensors don't seem to fare so well on the dodge trucks.

ok that was the plan for tomo anyway, i do have another question tho before i go to the trouble of towing it over there if i do drop the pan on it is there anything i can do in there or be able to tell if the sensor is just dirty?

If that is all that it is..... let the shop do it. They should pick up towing as well, if it is indeed the sensor that failed......

But, that said, yeah, you can drop the pan, and check the sensor yourself. Not that much of an ordeal.

I'd not open the pan if I was expecting warranty service.
