steering problems

Default steering problems

i have a 1996 dodge ram 2500 4x4 ext. cab it has a 5.9l v8 (360 c.i.) and dana 60 axles and my problem is that when i drive it down the road it drives fine but when i hit a bump or pot hole the front end feels like its going to vibrate out from under it and i thought it was the ball joints on the passenger side because the bottom one was bad but after i changed them it still dose it what could be causing this some one told me that the track bar is wore out it would cause it but if any one could help it would be greatly appreciated and if any one could tell me what kind of tranny this truck has would help me also

Track bar is usually the first suspect. Have a look at it.

How long does it normally take to change the track bar bushing?

Most of the time, it is the balljoint end that fails.... and, since you have to remove the bar to even be able to SEE the bushing, replacement of the whole thing is a better plan. If all goes well, half an hour or so to swap out the bar.
