automatic to manual conversion
Ok... I think I'm just going to go with upgrading my automatic transmission.... I really don't feel like dealing with the headaches of putting the stick in.... I'm not going to be pulling a 7k pound trailer, so I don't think I need all the crazy stuff... and I can pull the tranny myself so ill save money there.... thanks everyone for your input and advice...
The benefit is controlling your own gears and getting better gas mileage. Some people prefer manuals over slushboxes for those obvious reasons. I'll be swaping my 46RE out for a NV4500 in a few years.
wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy a truck with a manual? We are talking about lots of things besides the tranny here:
1. Clutch pedal that is mounted so it won't break when you go to shift.
2. Cut and weld the driveshaft to fit with the new tranny, or find one that fits perfect
3. Mounting slave cylinder
4. Clutch and other hardware
Sounds like it would be easier, and cheaper to just buy the donor.
