f@*kin trans slip....
so seeing that the fluid was already thick, changing the 5-6 qts and filter....will look into the switches too, will be enuff to save what remains in the converter??? @ cpt... converter would need to be changed??
If you haven't serviced the trans in 100,000 miles, ill wager there's little that can be done to save it.
Park facing uphill on a very slightt incline, p brake it and chalk the wheels. Drop the pan, dump the old oil, loosen the valve body bolts and pull the valve body down to rellease more fluid. You dont have to remove the VB, just loose enough to break the seal, youll know when more fluid starts dumping. Let stand overnight with a drip pan under it. Torque VB bolts to 100-130 in/lbs. (Not ft/lbs!) Replace the trans filter, and then put the pan back on. Hopefully you'll get 10-11 quarts of that old deal out of there. Use only ATF +4. That's you best shot at repair before a rebuild.
