as far as it increasing viscosity to raise oil pressure in worn engines, thats very true and i guess it cant hurt in that situation; however it is just masking the fact that clearances are out of OEM spec
Like I said, you should fix the problem instead of masking it.

my dad had a dodge that would slip when in 2nd gear and he added some transmission crap to stop it from slipping and 2nd gear stopped working all together so his truck would go from 1st to 3rd.

i have to confess........i used the lucas tranny stuff when the problem with my tranny started. when i drained the fluid the other day to change out the GPS and solenoid it noticed the fluid was NOT AS RED as new fluid. now the fluid had been in there for only 3 years and 40,000 miles so it should have been red not light red.

i still believe that when it comes to my trucks bodily fluids (oil and tranny) i will not put anything in there that the factory did not put in it. i have used the fuel injector cleaner and i picked up 1mpg.

i replaced the motor at 191,000 miles because i used a motor flush product and DID NOT drop the pan to clean it out and the pickup screen got clogged. now i bought this truck new and after the first oil change i use castrol syntheic oil. i have heard that the synthetic oil has not detergent and builds up sludge. when i dumped the motor flush in there and ran it from the parts store to my house, about 10 miles) it washed all the sludge to the pan. i changed the oil and went on my way. i drove for about 2 weeks when i stopped at a redlight i looked down and had NO OIL PRESSURE. the light turned green and i gassed it to get out of the road and had it towed home. i dropped the pan, thinking that the oil pump needed replacing, and found SLUDGE!!! i cleaned up the screen and went ahead and changed the pump. i replaced the pan and filled up with oil and had oil pressure until it got hot then nothing. so i dropped the pan agian and found brass looking slivers. the mains were gone.
i went and got a crate motor and changed it out. i now run 10w30 till i got to about 75000 miles on the motor and now use 10w40. i recently dropped the oil pan to take a look and NO SLUDGE!!!! all is shiney and looks great. i will never use syntheic oil again. and i believe in useing 1 kind of oil. whether it is valvoline quaker state castrol or whatever. i use valvoline! every oil change everytime. no exceptions. also a fram filter. i now have 306,000 miles (motor went in at 191,000) and all is good!!

I have used Lucas oil stabilizer efore and I'm not sure it makes a difference. I know we sell tons of it to the truck drivers where I work. As for the Lucas Upper Cylinder lubricant (Fuel treatment) I can honestly say it does make a difference based on experience.

I used the Lucas UCL as well and didnt notice much of a difference. I wouldn't put anything in my transmission. As for oil, Valvoline and a Mopar filter are what I use every 3k.

And if you dont believe me, cut one open. You'll wonder why you ever trusted them.

Get a NAPA Gold 1515 or a WIX 51515. They are the best filters you can get for $6
