In this case, reset means to disconnect the battery, so the PCM forgets all the old data. Just leave the battery disconnected for a couple minutes, and then hook it back up.

I pulled the pos.terminal off the battery for about an hour today. Put it on and started it up. The idle was surging up and down and it even stalled once. It started right back up and kept surging for about another 2 or 3 minutes. Once the idle leveled out, I pulled it up to my garage door and it was doing the caughing and missing it usually does till What seems like the thermastat opens. I shut it off and left it sit for about 1hr. went out to go to my buddys place and it started up and idled fine. I started down the road and it caughed or missed one time and was fine. Drove it about 15 miles to and from my buddys place without any issue. I just can't seem to get this cold issue figured out. Banging my head against the wall! Why does it run so good at normal opperating temp. and so bad cold.

Hey Guys,

Having the same problem here. Just replaced the 3.7 with a new one, and I'm getting the P1391 code. It wouldn't start after installing. I replaced the CMP and the CKP, and still wouldn't start. The first time, the rebuilders put a NGC Tone wheel on the crank, and I had to take it back out so they could put the JTEC Tone wheel on. It still won't start and I'm getting the "Intermittent Loss of CMPor CKP"' code.
Any Idea? Help.

Have you checked your fuel pressure?

Heyyou, I have not yet checked the fuel pressure. Planning on trying that this weekend. Was waiting to borrow a gauge from my dad. should be near 50lbs correct?

Also an fyi. I pulled the neg. terminal for about 10 min. Then started the truck. idle wasn't surging hardly at all. I pulled the air cleaner prior to starting. While it was running. I sprayed carb cleaner around the IAC and in the passage as well as around the 2 butterflies in the TB. And it seemed to get better. after that the idle is pretty steady. Now in the cold morning it more or less just sits at about 1000-1200rpms and the idle cuts like a missfire here and there for about 2-3 min then idle drops down to normal. then the miss stops. I start down the road and it will cough 2 or 3 times. Then the thermastat is open and smooth sailing from there. CEL hasn't come back on either since I reset that P1391 code sat. Do have a pending evap code for "very small leak". wondering if some seafoam through the intake may help. also thinking a new IAC and or TPS. And maybe a new gas cap for the evap issue.
