Default Radiator replacement

Hows it goin, my radiator is leaking real bad and I need to replace it. It looks simple by the factory repair manual, I have a few questions about the transmission lines that go to it. What is the easiest way to remove them? I only have simple hand tools and money is tight so i cant afford to buy new tools, and how much atf4 would i loose from removing them? And does anybody have any experience with the radiators from orileys or auto zone? Thanks fro the help

Not too bad of a job. You WILL need the special tool to disconnect the trans line though. You can get the cheap plastic guys for a couple bucks. (Do NOT get the plastic multi tool though, it will not fit in the space available....) You might be able to borrow/rent one from the parts store.

Shouldn't lose more than a quart of trans fluid.

No idea on the quality of aftermarket radiators..... what kind of warranty do they come with?

I wouldn't buy anything from autozone....... I have had bad experiences with their parts. But, that's just me.

orileys in mine for about a month now. no probs yet. have a stick so cant tell you much about the auto but usually takes an open end wrench. bag the line ends real tite when you disconect (keeps dirt out and should limit drain). cant imagine it would even take a quart to top off when done.
pretty easy job but take your time puting the new one in, the last thing you want to do is ding it up.

you have to have this tool to remove the lower transmission line. the radiator is easy enough. i also suggest you remove the check valve on the bottom line as you replace the radiator.
