I got some pinging under load in OD at interstate speeds when using the 93 tune with 91 octane fuel. Informed Sean about this, and he backed it off slightly. Fixed my problem. Excellent customer service.

gas price be damned, I get better mileage with the 91 tune and 93 gas, that more than offsets the difference in price by the gallon.. I'm not saying you will, but it's something to consider anyway..

Q: If you already have a superchips, can you still use it to read codes if I upload a SCT tune?

Yep, the superchips will still read the codes but why would you need to use it since the SCT tuner can also check diagnostic codes.

I did not know that - I thought that the SCT didn't read codes - good to know. Perhaps I was thinking of tire size spedo correction

Default Superchip

I've got a 2000 5.2 with a 5-speed, Volant CAI, Gibson headers, and catback dual exhaust. Luckily, these were already added before I purchased the truck. I have noticed some "knocking/ping" sounds coming from underneath the hood when I downshift for taking on hills, etc. I'm thinking that the previous owner never updated the ECU to let it know about the mods. I would really like to take care of this noise as well as get the optimum performance with the mods I have. Any ideas about what I could do? I have heard that Superchips and SCT are the best? Is this true?

Have you verified that your intake manifold plenum gasket isn't toast?

SCT is the best for performance, superchips is liked by the lifted truck crowd to adjust the speedo for tire size

and the ping is most likely caused by a leaking plenum gasket, do a search and you will find any info you need
