Default Programmer Questions

I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 318 4x4 that is pretty much stock all around other than a deeper trans pan. I am interested in putting in a programmer into my truck. I have looked at superchips and hypertech. Are there any other modifications that should be done to the truck before programing it? Also what is the added performance like or fuel economy with a programmer? Any other programmer suggestions would be great, i dont want to spend more than $300 or $350 on the programmer. Thanks

I say forget about superchips and hypertech and go with SCT, better all around performance and its only going to cost you $265

Thats the link for hemifever, he has it the cheapest and you will want to get the can tunes since your still stock, most notice a 1-2 mpg gain if they keep there foot out of it, and it will remove torque management so you will notice that being gone, and you wont hit overdrive till around 55

sct from hemifever did nice things for my stock 318 and service is second to none, no lie.
oh and please please dont expect an extra 50-100 hp without some other serious work. my mpg went up slightly and to my surprise power up hills I have done for years took far less shifts. cant wait to tow with it, think it is just the improvement I needed without sucken more gas. hows that work?
genius.

I have a Hypertech max energy and I see it as a huge paper weight.

+5 for SCT. Told the wife we were getting one for her Durango, and she almost tore my head off. That is, until I programmed it and she drove it. She now loves it, and thats only on the 89 octane tune.
