would a clogged fuel filter cause it spudder i dont know if the filter is clogged or not because i was thinking it was the fuel pump of the inline filter but im not to sure
im pretty good with motors but not going to act like i know everything but how to u exactly check your fuel pressure ive never had to do that so this is new to me if you could explain to me how to do this
There should be a schraeder valve on the drivers side fuel rail. (like a tire valve stem.) Need to pick up a gauge, and the gauge will screw right onto the valve. (valve probably has a cover on it. take that off first. ) Pressure should be right about 49PSI for your truck.
You can buy/rent a pressure gauge from the parts store.
when my 97 did the same thing it was a throttle position sensor.
my opinion is for you to put in the o2 sensors and the cats back on it. but it is your choice
To me it sounds like the fuel pump. My ram was doing the same thing when my fuel pump started acting up. And its pretty safe to drop the tank since these trucks sit pretty high. I had to drop my tank when i had quite a bit of gas in it. And it wasn't too hard putting it back up. Just use a jack and a peice of wood to support the whole tank while lifting back in place. Its just 2 metal straps that hold it in place.
