Default Rear End

Well I know I have a terrible whine comming from the rear end around corners majorly and any time the wheel is the least bit turned. Does any one know how to set the spacers in them , like how many turns does it need to be in or out. Anyone else have this problem?

Model and year will net you more answers.
2500/3500 has Dana Rear
1500 has corporate Rear
And many changes get made in different years

The clue here is the "spacers", AKA the carrier bearing adjusters, meaning he has a 9.25.

You need a dial indicator to set the backlash (0.005"-0.008"). I cannot however find the instructions on how to set the carrier bearing pre-load.

If the rear end is whining you likely have some bad bearings and possibly bad gears, simply going in and changing the backlash and carrier bearing pre-loads isn't going to fix it.

Thanks.. I have a 2001 Ram 1500 4x4 4.10 gears a 9.25 rear and 360 under the hood auto for now. Ok so when im taking it out to put the air 4 link set up on it I should just replace all bearings and check backlash. Sounds good but I still can't find anything about the spacers any where I called dodge and they were no help told me it was too old for them to keep on record..

Grab the 01 service manual from the FAQ section here. Everything you need will be in there.

Couldn't that be something as simple as rear wheel bearings?
