HELP!!! 1999 dodge ram 2500 5.9L LEAKING FROM TRANSFERCASE AND REAREND
Hi i bought a 99 dodge ram 2500 with 84,000 miles, drove home great and when i got back i looked underneath and i noticed transmission fluid leaking from where the driveshaft meets the rearend and also where it meets the transfercase, any idea whats wrong and why it happened? Dealer said he was going to fix everything and it looks like he didnt even touch it. Could it be the pinion seals? Truck was originally from nh
the extension housing seal in the t-case is bad and if GEAR OIL, NOT TRANS FLUID IS LEAKING at the pinion on the rear end, your pinion seal is bad. both fairly simple
its trans fluid leaking at the radiator, likely a loose cooling line connection

the seal at the transmission/t-case is easy. just remove drive shaft and old seal, then tap in a new one, keeping it straight. use a good National brand seal from Advance or other, don't use a timken or it'll leak.
the pinion seal requires a lot more effort and as said - attention to detail, including an impact wrench to remove the big nut. do an internet search for the how to, but the right way is to measure the rotational force with an inch pound beam-style torque wrench, mark the nut and count the threads. replace seal and retighten nut to a smidgen past the old mark. check rotational force to be within spec.
if you can't do these, then at a minimum - check your fluids weekly.
