Welcome to DF.
Just went outside to go to the store and my truck headlights wont turn on. All the
other lights seem to be working. I didn't check the high beams though.

Did a search and found this forum, and it most likely is the headlight switch.
Do you remember what the part number is for the headlight switch and the
connector? I'm not sure what the right one is.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

This happened to me this morning. I went to back out of the driveway and noticed my headlights were no on. They didn't work a few months ago and I flashed to High Beams and then back and they started to work again. This morning that did not work. I'm going to pull the switch when I get home and see if it needs pigtail, switch or both. I found some options at my local O'Reilly in the brand name of "Master Pro" and "BWD".

The difference in price is only $10 so any recommendations?

Pulled it apart and found a loose wire. Plug is in great shape and i cleaned the contacts on the switch. But i had the new switch in hand just in case. I love this forum.

I did a recent search for the switch and found that all of the part manufactures include the pig tail harness. You could get them separate before. A upgraded switch and connector would be nice improvement instead of just the same replacement.

Cool same problem but with some insights

My headlights would sometimes interfere with the gauges, causing them to all max out. Very annoying.

Eventually my headlight issue got worse when the smell of old cigarettes started when I turned on the lights. ( Dont smoke, never have.)

I tore apart the dash and found the headlight switch plug partially melted and the switch itself destroyed to the point where one of the terminals just flopped around. Went to a junkyard, got another one, plugged it in and all was fine. (The smell was in fact the circuit board on the switch getting toasted)

Until I actually turned on the lights.

Did that during the day just to test. After about 5 mintues felt the switch and the metal ring connected to the dimmer was super hot. Turned off the lights and all was good again.

The next day I remembered about the dash gauges and just wondered... Turned on the lights, turned DOWN the dash lights and the switch never got hot.

If you notice the photo of the plug on this thread it shows a melted plug. It corresponds to H and P ( thanks http://www.justanswer.com/dodge/14d1...headlight.html)

Those are switch output and Fused B - To Dimmer Switch

I still do not have my lights figured out since they just stopped working 2 days ago, but wanted to share this in case someone else can figure the connection. (In this case a bad connection... :P )

Summation of ramble:
Is there an issue with the dash lights and/or gauges when lights are on. Perhaps there is a weak spot in the wiring harness when one thing malfunctions it causes additional problems like the lights going totally out. Will definitely post a reply to this when I find what the problem was in this case.
