Ok im a 17yr old kid trying to fix the 95 ram 2500 with 204000 miles on it. got the engine to run but when i bought the truck($350) it doesnt move. what happens is when i put it in any gear(p,r,d,2,1) it just revs up like its in nuetral and doesnt move at all.Any ideas what could be causing this? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can the truck be pushed around in gears other than park? Is the shift linkage connected and actually shifting the tranny out of park?
Is your truck a 46RE with a 4x4 transfer box? If it is a a 4x4, make sure the transfer box is 2WD not Neutral. This will cause the truck not to move in any gears.
i also think it is the trans mission fluid level. i blew a line 91 when i was backing out of my driveway one day and i had to give it a ton of gas just to get it back onto my front yard. i fixed the line and topped up the fluid and it worked fine again.

If it's not something silly like the transfer case being in neutral or the linkage being disconnected, grab the factory service manual (that's a zip archive so don't be surprised when it starts downloading) and dig into the section about your transmission. You might need to beg/borrow/steal or even rent a pressure gauge if you get that far into it, but it'll be well worth it in the end.

1995 would have a 46RH but that does not effect the point being made here.Originally Posted by master tech

Since this tranny a 46RH not everything from the 2001 service manual will be accurate. The basic tranny operation is identical but the 46RH uses a governor to control shift points and the 46RE uses a governor pressure sensor and solenoid to shift the tranny.Originally Posted by UnregisteredUser
