Need some special tools to do it right. Pinion depth gauge, and a dial indicator for setting backlash. Not cheap. Not rentable either that I am aware of. If you planned on doing a few, buying the tools might be worth it, but, for a one truck deal? Nope, still cheaper to pay someone else to do it.

its also a lot of work to do it correct....... quite a few tools and some skills needed!

Actually, the tools linked up there by purpl are a lot cheaper than what I was expecting..... Not sure if the dial indicator will be adequate, as it only goes down to hundredths, don't recall if you need thousandths.... (been a while since I have had to do one......) Those, and a good torque wrench, plus assorted hand tools would be all that was required. Well, ok, need the tools to install/remove bearings and such as well. Those are readily available though.

Lots of Patience too.... not sure where you can get that, but, I bet it would be expensive.........

take the truck out of OD when towing and you are set.

33s will still kill you. It is like driving in OD with stock tires. If you want big tires, you need 4.56. Or you can get the axles from an off road truck. 4.10s in there.
