speedometer
Like the person before me said, it can be the rear speed sensor on the axel. It causes a bunch of problems over time and it can cause failure of a speedometer. Happened on my truck, and when I pulled the sensor plug, it was full of salt. Figures.
on my 01 the speedometer, (and sometime the tach) will not work after the truck sits in the hot summer sun all day.
the first time it did this in 06, i changed out the rear sensor, then the speed sensor in the trans. no help. then i swapped the cluster with one from junkyard and it fixed it.
it started doing it again with the new cluster in 09, and i found that if it tapped firmly on the speedo lens, right in the center, it would unstick and work.
