Ya I have been looking for a donor, I know the local salvage yard had a a 1500 5spd on there lot a couple years ago, but i would guess it would have been a NV3500. I would guess it was ok since they got it from the cash 4 clunkers program.

so far this doesn't sound to bad, but as my dad pointed out what if you miss somthing critical when your doing it. The transmission guy said you would need to shorten the drive shaft, any truth to this

OK, thanks, did you do the swap on your 2500 or a 1500 you previously owned?

I ordered a NV4500 and Bell Housing from High Impact, a Centerforce clutch from Jegs and I got the pedals from a junkyard. I had a buddy help me with the installation. I looked all over for a PCM but had to resort to the dealer for one. The new PCM has to be flashed.

I pretty costly upgrade but I was on my way to losing a third automatic. The only issue was, I've always had a rattle in 5th gear. It's been 5 years and I still haven't figured out what it is.

so what stick shift is behind the 1500? will they work to? Seems like the best bet is to buy a wrecked truck or something and switch everything over.

nv3500 came behind the 318, not sure you could get a 360 with a manual in the half tons.... someone else may chime in on that score.

mine, 98, 1500 quad, nv3500, 360. I think it's an odd one though since the Vin never matches the parts manuals when ordering parts... dunnno.

I would advise the nv4500 though. The 3500 is pretty LIGHT duty and the synchros tend to go bad...or at least they have in mine. Soon, I hope to upgrade to the 4500.

BUY A FULLY BUILT 46RE. PATC!

that auto is cheaper than a manual swap, and will last forever

Wonder if you get an engine/trans swap at some point in the trucks past? Does the engine/trans combo match what your build sheet says?
