I got mine from bulldog security. I didn't spend the money the T-harness just spliced it in. Wasn't too bad, but if you want they sell T-harnesses for most vehicles.

I used an Avital avistart model 4100. it is a remote start and keyless entry system made by DEI. They make viper alarm systems etc. You say you just want an auto start. This will work as just a autostart. However if you are going to have the extra starting remote, Why not just use the same remote to lock unlock and start the vehicle? The system is pretty easy to install. I recommend installing it as an add on and not "inline". If something fails with the system you will still be able to start the vehicle. Go to www.the12volt.com and you can look up your specific vehicle and find a wiring diagram and the location of each wire to install the autostart. Hope this helped.

I tried a hornet 569t but the box was defective (wouldn't always sense when the truck started in voltage sense (default), or tach mode. Then a few months ago I was at bestbuy for ****s and giggles and found they sold an avital remote start only kit (4113). Got it shipped to my door for under $20. off ebay Got the T harness mentioned above which makes install super easy. In addition to the harness, you'll need to tap the brake switch, and hook up a ground wire to complete minimum install. Overall install is cake with a base model truck :P

With the bulldog or the hornet 569t you'll be plug and play from the T harnss. From the avital remote start, you'll have to solder the connector on.

The avital works perfectly. Only complaint is the button itself. To start the truck you need to push the button for less than 3 seconds only once. Which means... if you bump the button, the truck starts. The hornet remote start took two short buttons pushes to start the truck. Pick your poision.

The price wouldnt be as bad as having to install it. Mine came with ok instruction, but they gave a link to go online and find detailed ones for your specific vehicle. It had color id so you knew exactly which wire it was.
