Default Questions

hey guys, ive been reading and learning on this site for about a week and a half, been loving it.
My knowledge grew about these trucks and i came to understand that they cant make a tranny worth crap, and when it gets cold something is usually goes wrong. But i still love them for some odd reason.

Well im in the market for a Gen 2 Dodge ram 1500, and i THINK i meet my match. Ive been talking to the owner for a week now and the more i talk to her the more i want it.
I have in fact searched the forums and looked other sites to about " what to look for when buying a dodge". What mostly came up was transmission stuff, the plenom thing, some senors etc...

But i have pictures i want you guys to look at to see if its even worth it.
The truck is a 96 dodge ram 1500 with a V6 3.9, yes i know not a v8
has dual exhaust i Think from the pictures, 140k miles, the owner says it runs great! but the outside is kinda rough.

Woah, how do i add my picturess? there so small?

Press new reply, and scoll down to additional options. Click on manage attachments button (it says something like that) browse to where the pics are stored in your computer and select the ones you want to add. They must be in one of these formats: .bmp .doc .gif .jpe .jpeg .jpg .pdf .png .psd .txt .zip. Repeat the process for each additional pic. Welcome to DF!

Have to disagree. A v6 will get better milage in just about any situation (up to, and including the nuclear/zombie apocalypse). Looks rough from what I see, and a v8 will give you more towing/power, and more mods are made for it.

Test drive and see how you like it. If it suits your needs (and more importantly, price range) scoop it up.

On these trucks, the mileage difference between the eights, and the sixes is barely noticeable....... Theoretically, the six should get better economy, in reality, from what I have gathered reading here on this site, theory doesn't carry over into the real world.

Id also make sure the tranny is in good working order (unless you can get it cheap enough to have $ left over for a rebuild) dodge isnt known for great transmission reliability. Check all fluids and make sure that it has been maintained (one spot that is regularly missed is the radiator, if theres rust looking crap in there, steer clear)
