Default Slush box questions

Hi! I have a 2001 2wd 1500 besides the one in my sig. It has an auto, and the odometer just hit 204,000 miles. I was pulling a 14' dump trailer short distances on the job site, no problem untill I got the trailer wheels stuck in a rut and had to rock the truck rather aggressively to free it. The truck hasn't been the same since. It was rather subtle at first, the main difference being it required more pedal for the same acceleration. But now it has started pupping out of gear. I had just replaced the trans filter and refilled the tranny before this. It is at the shop for diagnosis as we speak, but I started wondering about the hardiness of these things. I have heard a lot of bad things. What usually goes out? Is it one thing, like the bands or a planetary that can be strengthened or upgraded some way, or does it roast front to rear?

Torque converters. Governor pressure sensors and solenoids. Etc.

Rocking your truck like that probably killed it. That is extremely hard on the trans....

Wanna build a bulletproof trans? In the FAQ section, on page six of MonteC's trans thread, is a list he put together of parts for another member to build a trans capable of withstanding the abuse pulling a 7000 pound trailer regularly hands out. Go by that list, and you will be good to go.
