Default 97 1500 issues

i would appreciate any input

background: i had a bad cylinder on my 5.9 motor...no commpression. since i had a ton of miles i swapped it out for a 5.9 from a later model.

previeous to changeing motors i started to get a terrible shuddering while driving..gas it and it would go away...it got steadily worse and more frequent.

now after getting the new motor in..which sounds great...i have a loud popping sound around the cat..its not a backfire...it sounds like the cat...and the shuddering is still there although not as bad

the popping sound only happens when reving it up

could both issues be the converter due to driving with a bad cylinder

More likely the bad cylinder is due to the cat being clogged up.

Pull the pre-cat O2 sensor out of the cat, take the truck for a ride, any better?

If the cat is clogged, removing the the o2 will give the exhaust some place to release itself.
