front brakes dragging STILL!!! HELP
ok so a month or so ago i posted to see how to tell if calipers were bad or it was soft lines..well i found out thanks guys and i concluded it was the soft lines well replaced them they went from where i could not turn the tire by hand to where i could turn it if the tire was on. but with the tire off i could not turn the rotor by hand. So i then relpaced the caliper. A little better i can now turn the rotor by hand. But it does take some force. i know its not my wheel bearing cause with calipers off the wind can blow on them and they turn.(not literally just trying to say the spin freely). is there anything else that can cause this. both sides do it the same.
well there isnt much left that it can be really...you've replaced the flex hoses and calipers...the only thing I can think of is at least pulling your rotors, inspecting the race, cleaning your bearings and repacking them. Make sure you tighten up the castle nut to seat the rotor and bearings onto the spindle, then back it off like 1/4 turn to where you can turn the rotor by the lugs.
There will be a little resistance, it won't spin freely like the Big Wheel on the Price is Right, but it should still rotate with ease.
ease= able to do so
ease= able to do so

I am able to turn it but it takes more than a little force...i will try to repack my bearings today. But I doubt thats it. I have to really try to turn them and u can hear them dragging when u do turn them.
Bear in mind, that when you are driving the truck, the calipers will release to a point, but, the mere act of driving will force the pistons back into the calipers some. Just sitting on jackstands, I would expect some resistance to turning, right after the brakes are released, but, the more you turn the rotor, the easier it should become to keep it turning.
Real possibility that your brakes are working as they should.

A bit of resistance is normal. The only thing pulling the pads back from the rotors is the flex of the piston seal inside the caliper.

I'm having problems with the breaks on my 03 1500 2wd brakes hang up 90 percent of the time, other times they float freely. It seems that when they hang up i press the brakes and then let off the pedal and it breaks harder than when i was pressing it, i changed the soft lines and the problem persists, could it be a proportion issue or matter cylinder/ booster issue?
