Check and see if there are any grounds up in that area. I think there may be one that goes from body, to battery terminal, or some such.

I have a similar problem with my newly purchased 2006 Ram. When I pull the dimmer switch to go from low beams to high beams the headlights will brighten but not stay on bright, they will just go back to low beams. But ocassionaly they will got to high beams when I pull the switch but then I can't get them back to low beams. Is this just charactistic of needing a new dimmer switch?

You might also want to remove the covers from the steering column and check the wires in there if you have a tilt wheel.
