Default Heavier duty coils for plowing

i have a 95 1500 that i just put an 8ft hiniker plow on. it moves the snow great but the weight of the plow really makes the truck sit low. do 2500 coils fit on a 1500? what would be the best coils to go with?

if you want something decent go with what he has for sale. those are the same ones i installed, and i love em. i have an 8' fisher plow on my 1500 and my truck drops an inch if that when i left the plow. it also lifts your truck about 2" maybe more. so its a leveling kit and a good weight increase all in the same spring!

All you're doing with stiffer coils is relocating the stress the existing coil is bearing, to the bucket, arm, and frame. I really would go with a lighter plow unless you want to reinforce what you have. A stiffer coil won't do that for you.

True. But if age is the factor, you should replace the coils with their equivalent. Not stiffer ones.

BigRed does make a good point. In my opinion, an 8ft plow is just a touch on the heavy side for a half ton truck... even if you have 3/4 ton coils and your suspension doesn't sag.

My ol' man had a 2000 half ton he used for a plow truck. He had a 7 1/2' western straight blade and a Daniels pull blade out back. We put 3/4 ton coils under the front and a few add-a-leafs out back and the suspension really held its own. Worked great actually. The only problem was, I was replacing ball joints, wheel bearings, and track bars almost yearly... its just too much stress for a half ton pickup. Granted, he did put that silver plow truck though some serious paces.

Yes but I have been told that the dodge front ends were not exactly a strong selling point to begin with I mean snowplowing is not exactly easy on a front end and I am already expecting regular repairs its almost insane to believe that with that extra stress on the front end that a person is not going to have to fix stuff
