hey

my truck has been sitting for a few months because i was doing some work on it. I finally got it all put back together and triple checked everything. I go to start it and all i here is like a arching sound from the starter and now i have nothing. I know my battery was done for so i will replace that today as well as I'm going to toss in a new starter relay because i cant even here that ticking anymore. any chance anyone else has seen this or heard of this, any help would be appreciated.

PS. I've tried searching the net and other forums but i cant seem to find anything and what i have found I've tried like checking if wires are corroded and so on

See if you have power at the fat cable to the starter, then, check and see if you are getting at least 9 volts to the solenoid (skinny) wire when the key is turned to the start position. If both of those are true, replace the starter.

The fat cable should always have power. Skinny wire will only have power when the ignition is in the start position.

Swap the horn, and starter relays. Try again.

Truck won't start unless it is in either park, or neutral. Do you get anything with the truck in neutral? If you do, sounds a lot like a failed switch there. Considering where they hang out, not too much of a surprise.
