Default 96 1500 front coil swap

My 96 1500 has air bags and an extra leaf in the back so it gives it a little lift even when flat. I have a set of coils from a 94 2500. If I swap them in will they give me some lift or not. Only need about and inch or inch and a half.

How hard will this be to do? Couple hours in my home shop with you standard tools? When I took the coils out of the parts truck I need the axle out anyway so I just got the axle free and pulled the coils off the shocks once it was out. I really don't want to go at mine with a torch.

All you need is a couple jacks, and take the shock out. Those springs will probably give you 2 to 3 inches of lift.

In addition to HeyYou's guidence, I also dropped my sway bar end links to allow the axle to drop further. Jack the truck as high as your stands will safely support the truck on the frame behind the front axle. I also took the wheels off too to let that axle drop to the ground. Also disconnect the CAD wire just in case before you drop the axle.

Ok, I doubt I will be able to drop them though, if they are as rusty as everything else.

Well took me about and hour and a half. Went really fast once I figured out how to get the axle to drop far enough.

I think I wasted my time though, I dont see and noticable difference in height.
