let your pocketbook be your guide...
here's a good site to compare style, pricing, reviews.
don't overthink it, all of them are good, and some are just overpriced.

BFG AT's are the longest lasting tire I have ever used. I don't run them anymore though because they are aweful in mud. Anything else though, and they are awesome.
I really liked my Toyo Open Country M/Ts, but they are really heavy, and too expensive. I am currently running Goodyear Duratracs, and so far I really like them. I have had them on dry pavement, snow, ice, dirt, rain, and they have done awesome all around. Havn't had them in mud yet. I usually dislike Goodyears, but the Duratracs looked like a good cross between an all terrain and a mud terrain, so I gave them a shot. It's too early to tell yet, but they look like they might be wearing kinda fast. Hard to tell though. The only other complaint is that it took a lot of weight to balance them, but once balanced, they have been fine. I would recommend them for sure.

Ya, the General AT2 is a very similar design to the BFG AT, and i've heard good things about them I heard they are a little harder compound then the BFG AT which could be good or bad depending on what you want out of a tire.
Do they have the 3 ply sidewall like the BFG? That is one big plus about the BFG.
