There is a resistor on the heater box down by the blower motor that commonly goes bad.

Zman is right, more than likely it is the blower motor resistor if it works at some settings and if it does not work on any setting then I would look toward the switch.

I just fixed the same problem. $50 bought me anew blower motor resistor. It took less than five minutes to swap it out. 2 phillips screws under the passenger side dash revealed the ceramic burnt and falling apart. All fixed.

Hi, I have a similar (identical) problem with an 07 Dakota. It actually has less than 25,000 kms on it and all worked fine when I last drove it regularly. It's been parked mostly for almost a year but driven or run every few weeks.

At any rate a dealer told me the blower AND sensor are shot and it will be $550 to fix!!! This makes no sense to me as the blower clearly works but only on high and I don't understand what 'sensor' needs to exist in this set up. It seems more likely a problem with the switch or as said in this thread the resistor.

My question is, does anyone know how easy a fix this would be in a 07 Dakota versus the 01 Ram the OP refers to? I suspect the set ups are similar in the models but may have changed quite a bit over 6 model years.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Look under the glove box for two Phillips screws with a couple wires ran to it. Unplug the wires, take out the screws. If the ceramic looks toasty or the contacts melted. Get a new one
