Is it possible to put a different gauge cluster in a different year truck though? Because im not sure if the gauge cluster in my truck is the correct one?

anything is possible if you are determined enough. What makes you think it isn't correct? Can you post a pic?

the top one is from a 01 durango with a tach
the bottom one is out of my 99 dodge ram with no tach

i swapped them about 6 months ago and no problem.

(the only differnce is the 4x4 light now says 4wd part-time
and my odometer is reverse-lit and says 150k instead of 110k, but my state dose not require odo readings for trucks 10+ years old!

Thanks for the response guys! Mine is the one thats on the bottom in 99dodge318's picture. And I thought it was suppose to be the cluster the the one with the tach rather than a big gas gauge but wasnt for sure. And to answer your question HeyYou the reason i asked is because when i bought the truck the gauge cluster was just sitting in there not bolted in or anything, because the guy i bought it from said it wasn't the right cluster for this truck (I had a feeling he didn't know what he was talking about, but i wasn't really sure either) And the main reason is because my gas gauge does not work, and i just figured that if it was the wrong cluster then maybe thats why the gas gauge dosent work.

Depending on what year (99 and newer for sure), it can actually be illegal to put a new gauge cluster in. The reason is, the odometer reading is stored on a chip on the cluster. So by swapping in a new cluster, you are changing your trucks odometer reading. If you then decide to sell your truck, and you don't disclose the odometer discrepancy, you have just committed odometer fraud, which is a felony. So if you do it and plan to sell or trade your truck anytime in the future, make sure you get the the odometer change letter and keep it with your truck. Dealerships have this letter because they have to file it whenever they do odometer work on vehicles brought in to the dealership for repairs. The DMV might have the correct forms too.

Like I said before Texas does not require odometer readings for vehicles more than 10 years old.

And if I ever did decide to sell my truck, I have the original cluster that still reads 110k!
