Default 01 4x4 lsd problem

i have been having a few noises coming from my truck. So i jack up everything to check it. Everything seems fine but ive got a bad front hub and i found some metal in the rear. It looks like the clutch pressure plate. All gears look great but it worries me. Now besides the adjusting nut tool what other special tools do i need? Would you pay someone to do it or do it yourself? At 125k what else should i just go ahead and replace? How long can i drive it the way it is? I always drive it normal and it never leaves the highway.

You can get rebuild kits for the factory LSD, and I think the only special tools you need are a set of feeler gauges? Grab the FSM from the faq section here. It will have the process in there for ya.

Grab the FSM from the faq section here....... I am not 100%, but, you may not need to remove the carrier to service the LSD portion. Although, taking it out, and cleaning everything out good probably wouldn't be a bad plan.

there is a place in wichita ks (Power Drive) where you can buy a brand new Trac-Lok LSD for $425 or just the clutch packs (Dana-Spicer) brand for $78... i just replaced the clutch packs in my rear end and i made my tool for the adjuster nut.
follow this:-
