no. The viscosity will still be there, but it will still have LOADS of carbon in it making it sludgy.

Pay no attention to thermal breakdown and viscosity, it is all about clean oil and regular changes.

Things that kill an engine:
1. Dirt (in the oil, FI, and cooling system)
2. Heat
3. Lack of oil

Just change the oil with dino oil and the filter every 3K and you will be fine. Get good oil filters. I just go with synthetic because I can splurge for the extra 8-10 bucks and you usually get a really good oil filter with it as well.

Autozone has 5 qts of castrol edge and a K&N filter (13 dollar filter) for 32 bucks. I was gonna try it but the two autozones in my town don't carry castrol edge. SO I got syntec.

I heared K&N filters suck from alot of people online. I'll never buy one, the Purolator Plus filters (the yellow ones) tho is what i use, heared good things about them being one of the better filters.

You heard wrong. They are probably the best oil filter you can get at a parts store, but also the most expensive at $13-$14 a pop.

WIXs and NAPA Golds for me, you just cant beat the prices on them too.

If you change your oil and filter every 3 K, it does not matter what oil you use. I splurge on synthetic for preference. and 27 bucks every 3-6 months is not that bad for me.
Most oil testing will show that if you are changing out synthetic that soon, you are wasting money. No matter what you believe. It does not break down at the same rate. Also just because it may look dirty does not mean it is bad. It can have a dirty look and still be just as lubricating as when it was new. Oil testing can also prove that.

I run 20k with full synthetic Amsoil with no..... notice I said no issues with oil. Did the same in my Wrangler with no issues. For what its worth I could be doing the 25k they claim.

Have never had a sludge issue running synthetic, even at the 20k mile interval. It does not sludge like regular oil.

My 318 has had synthetic its entire life as well, 122k. When I replaced the plenum at 110k there was no crust in the valley, it was spotless. When I replaced the valve covers with Mopar Performance covers at 118k there was no crust and was spotless. When I replaced my timing chain 300 miles ago there was no crust and was spotless. I agree with CPTA, replace your oil every 3k (even if it will last 20k) along with a quality filter, and you will have no crusting issues.

Only if your plenum is not blown. If it is, it will change itself.
